2011 Nationals Recap

Written By: Riedell | January 31, 2011

Nationals is always one of our favorite skating events! There is so much excitement in the air and promise for wonderful performances. Like every other year, this Nationals didn’t disappoint.

There were a number of skaters who hit the ice wearing their Riedells. Rachael Flatt, the 2010 US Nationals Champion and 2010 Olympic, put on strong performances to finish 2nd at this year’s event. She’ll go on to represent the United States at Worlds with 2011 US Champion Alissa Czisny in March. Here’s a recap of how other Riedell skaters finished at Nationals:

-Junior Ladies skater McKinzie Daniels finished 4th
-Senior Pairs skater Lindsay Davis finished 7th
-2010 Olympian Jeremy Abbott finished 4th
-Senior Men: Alex Johnson, Parker Pennington and Sean Rabbitt finished 16th, 17th, and 20th, respectively.
-Junior Men’s skater, Emmanuel Savary finished 5th

Unfortunately, Kiri Baga (who was set to make her Senior debut) had to withdraw due to a nagging injury. We wish you a speedy recovery, Kiri! Our thoughts also go out to Josh Farris, who suffered a broken ankle and torn muscle after a fall during his free skate.  We are excited to see you both next year in San Jose!

Thank you to all of the skaters, volunteers and fans who helped make our time in Greensboro so great.
