Spotlight on Sean Rabbitt

Written By: Riedell | February 23, 2012

Born April 8, 1990 in Yorba Linda, California, Riedell skater Sean Rabbitt has been on the ice for most of his life.

“Figure skating has been a dominant focus of my life since the age of three,” Rabbitt says on his Figure Skaters Online profile. “That was when my mom and dad took me to a local skating rink with my brother Brandon. I still remember the thrill of gliding on the ice for the very first time. It was like stepping into another world.”

Currently a senior men’s competitor, Sean’s goals are to continue to skate well nationally
and move on to represent Team USA internationally. In 2010, Rabbitt made his first appearance at the U.S. Championships, placing 11th in the junior men’s competition. He made his senior debut just last year in the 2011 U.S. Championships.

Aside from competitive skating, Sean has also performed in fellow Riedell skater Parker Pennington’s Skate for Life Benefit Shows from Skate Dance Dream to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which hits home for Sean.

“My mom has muscular dystrophy and it is a hard struggle for her every day,” Rabbitt said. “Being out there and seeing her enjoy my skating as much as I do gives me joy and a freedom that I only wish she was able to experience.”

Off the ice, Sean has always had a strong interest in Japanese culture. When the earthquake and tsunami disaster hit Japan in 2011, he became heavily involved in relief projects. He organized a group that started a charity called Skaters Care to benefit the victims of the disaster.

Sean’s talent as a figure skater and his multiple volunteer experiences make him a great role model both on and off the ice. We are so proud to have Sean as part of the Riedell team!

Fun fact: Sean is a member of the Screen Actor’s Guild and has appeared on the television show “That’s So Raven.”
