Heat Up Your Skating at Summer Camp

Why Attend a Figure Skating Camp

Elite skaters like Rachael Flatt and Johnny Weir spend the summer months preparing for their upcoming competitive seasons. During this time, they master new routines and improve elements like jumps, spins and edge work. Many young skaters can’t spend an entire summer training, although we’re sure many would love to spend that much time at the rink!

That’s why figure skating camps are a great opportunity for skaters like you. Many camps last one week, and in that time, skaters at many levels work on a variety of elements. It is a great opportunity to focus on improving figure skating skills while having fun.

“Another great benefit of skate camp is that young skaters can gain a new perspective on their skating. From their fellow campers to working with new coaches, it is a great opportunity for skaters to learn something new and maybe even master that jump they’ve been working on,” says Barb Yackel, Point of Perfection Camp Director and PSA Events Coordinator.

Most importantly, it is just plain fun to spend time with fellow skaters doing what you love to do—skate!

Figure Skating Camp Tip: Bring a notebook so you can keep of journal of the friends you meet and everything new you learn so you can share it with your coach at home.
