Skater and Coach Testimonials

“Eclipse Blades provide me with great edge quality, and help me reach new heights in my jumps. The Eclipse Infinity blades were an immediate success for me, easy to get used to, and very high quality.”

–Kiri Baga, 2009 U.S. Ladies Novice Champion

“I really love the Eclipse Infinity blades! It was such a smooth transition from my previous blade! The blades make it easy to feel edges and ‘get down into the ice.’ Since I’ve been in the blades, I’ve been able to consistently land my jumps and master the triple loop and triple flip in one year! Thanks so much!!”

–Shannon Brakke,
3-time MN State Champion, Junior National Medalist, Midwestern Sectional Competitor
and Recipient of the Bette Snuggerud Scholastic & Skating Award

“I decided to try the Eclipse Infinity to replace the Pattern 99 which I had been using. I had to wait a few weeks to begin breaking in my new boots due to a severe ankle sprain that I suffered in August. Once the orthopedic surgeon gave me the green light, I began the break-in process. Although the rocker is a bit different on the Infinity blade, once I adjusted, I was able to glide across the width of the arena with one push. I have never been able to do this in the 10+ years I have been skating! My jumps are higher and I’m able to stay off my toe pick.”

–Julie Schulte, Skater

“I have always been fond of dance blades because of the short length and minimal toe pick. My absolute favorite blade was the MK Dance blade that they have stopped making. The Eclipse Dance is the closest to it and I believe the rocker of the Eclipse Dance blade is stronger (due to the short length), and that makes my twizzles effortless. One thing that was hard to get used to again was how small the toe pick is. I found myself rocking too far forward to catch my toe, but after wearing them for a few weeks I’m comfortable. I would definitely recommend this blade to the skaters I work with.”

–Katie Bowling, Miami RedHawks Assistant Varsity Synchronized Skating Coach

“It has been about a month since I began skating on Eclipse Infinity blades. I have definitely noticed an improvement over my old blades. Even though I am still in the process of tweaking my techniques to accommodate my new blades, I feel very comfortable on them. In a few strokes I can gain much more speed than I was previously able to. I also feel like I have much more control when taking off and landing jumps, which have become higher and more explosive. I am able to gain and maintain more speed and stability in spins. Even loops from moves in the field are much easier to control. In just the past month, my confidence on the ice has grown, and my expectations for the future are very high.”

–Clara Buck, Skater

“I wore my new blades today for 2 hours and virtually from the first stroke it seems like all I had to do was THINK turn, and I did! Turns, strokes, edges and direction changes were seemingly accomplished as much by grace and intention as any physical effort on my part. I’m extraordinarily pleased with Eclipse Blades. They make skating feel like a “magic carpet” ride. No matter where I found myself on an edge, the blade felt—and remained! —solidly underneath me virtually all the time. Not only do Eclipse Blades make the formal postures needed for ice dance easier to achieve, but they also allow me to move in quick, agile turns and edges.”

–John Miller, Skater

“I always have loved my Pattern 99 blades. The Eclipse Infinity blades have been every bit as wonderful and additionally I feel like it is easier to turn, spin, etc. My edges feel very strong, secure and comfortable, and elements feel nice, clean and quiet.”

–Michelle Lauerman, Skating Director, Kansas City

“I’ve finally found time in my schedule to try out my new Eclipse Mist blades, and I love them. It’s much easier to be on the correct edge when I skate, but they don’t feel so different that I have problems. I can feel the curvature, but most of that probably comes from skating on a flat blade for too long. The rocker is a great size and the Mist has the same radius as my previous blade, and so far it feels like a perfect fit.”

–Caitlin Banks, Skater

“I want to let you know that I’ve had a great experience with Eclipse Infinity blades. I have been in Pattern 99s since a young age, so now, as a 25 year old, I was wary of making any blade changes. But I’m happy that I did. After just a few days skating in them, I felt very comfortable and was able to do triple jumps and all my spins and steps just fine. The rocker felt a little different at first, but I attribute that to my previous pair of blades being about 6 years old! So I don’t think the rocker is different from Pattern 99, it’s just that my old blades didn’t have much of a rocker left in them! For me, the hardest thing to feel comfortable again has been loop jumps because of the different feeling of the rocker, but they too now feel pretty comfortable.

I wanted to give you some feedback and let you know that they are working well for me both as a skater and coach! As a loyal Patter 99 user, I would also recommend these blades, and you can’t beat the price difference. Because of Eclipse’s better value, I’d recommend it over Pattern 99 right now because they feel the same to me, but Eclipse costs less – which is needed in this sport!”

–Robbie Crawley, Coach

“I have been able to just about get a full work out in my new boots and Eclipse Infinity blades. I am hooked! I really enjoy the edging for jumping and spinning.”

–Cindy Lester, Coach

“I think the blades are fantastic, and probably my favorite to date. Something I do when I spin is hit the toe pick, then start to spin (something most of us are taught to do anyways) and with my MK Dance blades, the toe pick was either too small or didn’t have enough grip to be able to get a quality ‘hit’ before the spin. The Eclipse Blades’ toe picks are the perfect size and I was doing all the spins perfectly the first try. The rocker is also perfect, I had more balance, and faster turning in twizzles and spins. They are ever so slightly heavier, but since the boot feels light, they balance each other out. I really didn’t notice the weight difference.”

–Alexa, Skater

“Eclipse Infinity blades are an ideal blade for the advanced figure skater. The rocker allows greater edge control which has made turns in step sequences and change of edges in spins easier. The blade also gives the skater more control of movement which is beneficial in entrances of jumps, which in turn gives the jumps more control. I also feel that I can keep my blade on the ice longer while stroking which results in more power. Finally, the blades feel lighter and thus, jumps feel lighter in the air, which results in a softer landing. Overall, my skating experience in Eclipse Infinity blades has been an outstanding one!”

–Chris Kinser, Coach
